How to prepare for a trophy push

This post is kind of directed toward my clan, Kpop Nation, but it’s also some good general advice. We’re getting ready for a trophy push from October 28-November 4, which I’m excited about. This time, I WILL get Master League! 🙂

So, what’s the best way to prepare for a trophy push? I think there are four main things you need to do:

1. Upgrade your most important defenses. If you haven’t already, make sure your most important defensive buildings are upgraded: Xbows, Mortars, and Wizard towers especially. Depending on your level, though, you may not have enough time for it to finish before the push. You can have things upgrading in the early part of the push if you want, where things are still somewhat easy-going.

2. Research the troops/spells you’ll need most. Obviously, you’ll want to upgrade your most-used troops for the push ahead of time. Optional upgrades or things you won’t need for trophy hunting (e.g., goblins) can wait until later.

3. Save up resources! Nothing’s worse than being in the middle of a trophy push and running out of gold for searching and spells, or elixir for strong troops. Good income isn’t guaranteed during a push, especially in the higher leagues because you’re focused on trophy count, so it’s good to have a stash to fall back on. Plus, you’ll need resources to do #4…

(Recommended) 4. Keep your builders busy…on nonessential upgrades. You never want to waste too much time in CoC, so you might as well use the trophy push week to upgrade things you normally wouldn’t prioritize.

Here are some suggestions:

Good things to upgrade during a push: storages, army camps, resource collectors (assuming you have some stocked up), laboratory/research, town hall, and walls. If you’re finding that your gold supply is steady and strong, you may want to keep a builder free to upgrade a wall or two whenever you get the chance. You may also find it a good time to upgrade your clan castle…that’s right, even while upgrading, you can still donate and receive troops! 🙂

Bad things to upgrade during a push: barracks, essential base defenses, spell factory

Anyway, this was kind of a common-sense post, but I hope it will be somewhat useful. Up until Crystal league, it is very possible to target exposed town halls, so it shouldn’t be too hard to climb as long as you are moderately active. And make use of the 1-gem spell factory boost for the first few days while you still can!

Chat it up on clan chat if you have any tips to share or questions. Have fun, and good luck everybody!

(Sponki) Finishing crystal walls and upgrades

In my secondary account, I’m still working to bring up all the walls to at least level 6 (pink crystal) walls. This is pretty important because this is when it takes at least two wall breakers to get through…unless they have level 6 wbs, which most people at this trophy range don’t.

I’m getting close!

After my top-center wizard tower gets to level 4 and my bottom archer tower gets to 7, I think my base’s defenses will look respectable. Then, I’ll probably need to work on getting all the air defenses to level 4 so they actually look somewhat intimidating :P.  Then, I’ll feel somewhat satisfied for the time being and move onto some of the more annoying upgrades, such as barracks and then all the pumps and mines.

The big research upgrade going on right now is Archers to level 5. This is part of the reason I rushed a bit to TH8 so I could get better troops and donate these to my clan. After archers, I’ll probably do Giants, wallbreakers, then wizards. Somewhere along the line, I might try to do a push to Crystal League just for the achievement, then drop back down.

Layout-wise, I’m pretty happy with my design. I’m winning about two defenses, then losing the third…typically when some of the traps have been triggered already. It also helps a TON when I have a dragon in the clan castle.

We’ll see where things go, but I’m definitely going to stay at TH8 until it’s absolutely fully maxed. To me, this is the sweet spot, and plus, there’s no reason for me to have two TH9 bases (along with SmoothJK).
